At the LA Auto Show, Chevrolet spoke about its focus on green technology and the electrification of the automobile, with the Volt starting production in late 2010. The Volt is an electric car with extended-range capability, meaning it is a complete EV that can be recharged to provide up to 40 miles of gas-free driving. When the battery is depleted and there isn't time to recharge, a back-up generator seamlessly extends the range several hundred miles until it can be plugged in again.
