Voters on the island of Cozumel in Mexico lined the streets to wait for their turn to vote in Mexico’s general election on July 1. The vote will appoint a president and new Senate and Chamber of Deputies members.

The lead-up to the election was marred by violence as reports said at least 130 candidates and political workers were killed in assassinations in almost a year prior.
