Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, on July 1 visited the temporary camps in Cox’s Bizar used by Rohingya refugees from Myanmar.
The risk of landslides caused by weeks of flooding forced many to relocate in recent weeks.
On June 28, Kevin J Allen, UNHCR Head of Operations for the Rohingya refugee emergency, said that many refugees living in high risk of landslides were able to relocate to safe, level ground.
This footage, posted on July 1 from the Chakmarkul camp in Cox’s Bazar, shows the ICRC president. In a tweet, Maurer described the conditions refugee families were facing, saying people were “surviving, not living.” Credit: Peter Maurer via Storyful
