A double car bombing rocked the northern Syrian city of Afrin on June 27, killing at least eight people and injuring more than 20, according to local sources.

The first car bomb was reported by local activists to have exploded near Turkish soldiers. (Storyful has not independently confirmed this.)

There was a second explosion at the city’s Kawa Square, near a base of the Jabha al-Shamia opposition faction, according to multiple reports.

Pro-opposition sources had reported earlier on June 27 that fighting had erupted between rebel factions in the city.
