The Pawnee Fire in Lake County, California, had burned more than 10,000 acres by the evening of June 25, and was only 5 percent contained.
California Gov Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency as 1,500 residents were evacuated from the area.
More than 20 structures, including 12 homes, were reported to have been destroyed.
