Tom Arnold has weighed in on Melania Trump's wearing the "I don't really care" jacket.
Actor Tom Arnold weighed in on a recent controversy surrounding Melania Trump.
During his appearance on MSNBC, he was asked about his response to the first lady's jacket with the words, "I really don't care, do U?"
She wore it during a trip to an immigration detention center in Texas on Thursday.
"She is so out of touch...whatever bubble she's in, and...that woman is traumatized," Arnold said. "She is in an abusive relationship, and she is traumatized. And I'm gonna give her that because that is absolutely insane."
"I wished that...she had the compassion that I have for her, for those children and for people and that her family had it for those children. And it is sad that they don't, but the rest of America does...and we're not going to accept that 'cause it's so sad what's going on there," Arnold added.
His voice joins the chorus of criticisms that have been launched at the first lady since she was photographed wearing the green jacket.
Her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham tried to dismiss the extra attention, stating, "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message."
However, a New York Times piece points out that the first lady likely knew, based on past experience, that she would be photographed and that her clothing choice would be scrutinized.
While the Times did not seem to have answers about the jacket, the president ended up remarking on the controversy.
"'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!" President Trump tweeted.
