A fast-flowing stream of lava was seen passing through Pahoa, Hawaii, in a smoky red glow in video captured on June 19.
The US Geological Survey said on June 20 that lava was fountaining up to 187 feet into the air from the active eighth fissure of the Kilauea lower East Rift Zone, and feeding an established channel to the ocean at Kapoho. Credit: Spc. Aven Santiago via Storyful
