In Bhopal last month Ismail Merchand was setting up to shot for his latest production Hifazat Mein, a film based on the english novel In Custody by Anita Desai though the Merchant Ivory production films are Directed by James Ivory an American. In Bhopal it is the Ismail who is the director and for his after shifting base to New York it is a home coming of sorts. The Merchant Ivory partnership was over the past 30 odd years given several memorable films but the householder still remain their favourite.
Film producer and director Ismail Merchant speaks about his films, he says, I always look to household regina something very special for me, thet was the start of our career and ofcourse all the films have something have very special but householder has because it was the first film we did I always think very fondly of it.
Since then the Merchant Ivory produced numerous other films set in India before they left shore to conquer the world.
