More than 1,000 shelters at UNHCR-run camps for Rohingya refugees have been damaged by floodwater or hit by landslides since June 10, as heavy downpours signaled the start of monsoon season in Bangladesh.
The UNHCR estimates that around 900,000 people are currently living in its camps at Cox’s Bazaar.
Local news reports said 12 people were killed by flooding and landslides, including two Rohingya refugees. The UNHCR confirmed several injuries and one death in a June 12 update, that of a small child. Credit: Save the Children via Storyful
