The shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School obviously rocked the United States to its core, and forced many to demand gun reform. People from around the country have shown their support of the student survivors and their plight via walkouts, marches, rallies and public appearances. As the nationwide battle continues, Parkland natives and other Florida regions are doing what they can to heal and carry on.
Many members of the Florida Panthers call Parkland, Florida, their home and were deeply affected by the recent February 14th tragedy. In addition to trying to make the playoffs, team members suddenly had to worry about getting in touch with kids, wives and family members to see if they were alright.
Along with honoring the victims on the ice, the Panthers have since been eager to represent their Florida pride and get some wins in light of the tragedy. In order to make the playoffs and prove that they’re a force to be reckoned with, the team assumed they would have to win six or seven out of nine games. As their journey to their glory continues, the recent tragic events have helped galvanize them and encourage them to play for something larger for themselves.
