New South Wales police on June 6 charged a 20-year-old Liverpool mother with the “alleged repeated poisoning” of her 18-month-old baby boy in January.

The woman was arrested at a Lurnea home following investigations into the near-fatal Tegretol overdose of the child, who was not prescribed the drug. Tegretol is used in the treatment of epilepsy and neuropathic pain.

The woman was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with seven counts of using poison to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm. Credit: NSW Police Force via Storyful
