A young woman was using a public restroom at Burleigh Heads, Queensland, on June 5, when she noticed a phone had been slipped under the wall between her and the adjacent cubicle.
Jane Beall, 23, took to Facebook to share her experience. “I quickly left and told my friend who was waiting outside,” she wrote. “I went back in again and decided to film, in the hopes to have evidence and prove to myself I wasn’t being paranoid.”
She captured the disturbing incident on camera despite feeling “sick to her stomach”, so that other women would be reminded to be vigilant.
Beall told Storyful she went back outside and called the police immediately. While she was on the phone, the man exited the bathroom and began to run. A second video, sent directly to Storyful, shows Beall and a friend in pursuit of the man while giving his description to the police, who later attended the scene.
Beall described the man as around 40 years old, caucasian, with a crew cut and a gut. In the video, he is wearing a high-visibility shirt. Credit: Jane Beall
