How to Fix Keyboard not working in Windows 10 (2018)-4 ways to fix it

Before trying methods, we need to enable the On-Screen keyboard.

Right click on "Windows Start Button", and then click on "Settings", and then Click on "Ease of Access", Scroll down and then Click on "Keyboard", and then click on "Use the On-Screen Keyboard" to enable it.


Method 1: Turn Off Filter Keys if they are turned on

Step 1: Type "Control Panel" in search box.

Step 2: Click on "Control Panel" to open it.

Step 3: Select "Category" in View by at the top right.

Step 4: Click on "Ease of Access".

Step 5: Click on "Change how your keyboard works".

Step 6: Make sure filter keys are not turned on. If it is turned on, disable it by unchecking "Turn on filter keys" and then click on "Apply" and then "ok".

Step 7: Restart your computer.


Method 2: Update drivers of your Keyboard

Step 1: Right Click on "Windows" Start button, and then click on "run" to bring the run window.

Step 2: Type "devmgmt.msc" without quotes to bring the Device Manager window.

Step 3: You need to expand the "Keyboards" section.

Step 4: Select your keyboard, right click on it, and then click on "update driver".

Step 5: Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software". If it works then you are good to go. If not try below steps.

Step 6: Click on "browse my computer for driver software".

Step 7: Click on “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.”

Step 8: Select the appropriate driver and click on "Next" button to update it.

Step 9: Restart your computer to check whether it fixes your issue or not.


Method 3: Uninstall the Keyboard driver and install it again.

Follow the first three steps mentioned in Method 2. After that follow the below steps

Step 4: Select your keyboard, right click on it, and then click on "Uninstall device".

Step 5: Click on "Action" from top Menu.

Step 6: Click on "Scan for hardware changes". It will automatically detect the drivers for keyboard and install it.

Step 7: Restart your computer.


Method 4: Disable Fast StartUp in Power Options

Step 1: Type "Control Panel" in search box.

Step 2: Click on "Control Panel" to open it.

Step 3: Select "Large icons" in "View by" at the top right.

Step 4: Click on "Power options".

Step 5: Click on “Choose what the power buttons does” on the left side of the window.

Step 6: Click on “Change settings that are currently unavailable.”

Step 7: Below “Shutdown settings”, you have to Disable “Turn on fast startup” by Unchecking it.

Step 8: Click on "Save changes" and restart your computer.
