President Trump on Tuesday again went after Jeff Sessions.
President Trump on Tuesday lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions over his recusal from the Russia investigation.
"The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn't tell me he was going to recuse himself...I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined...and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!" Trump tweeted.
Days ago, a New York Times piece shed light on the president's reaction after learning about Sessions' recusal in March of last year.
"The president objected to his decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation. Mr. Trump, who had told aides that he needed a loyalist overseeing the inquiry, berated Mr. Sessions and told him he should reverse his decision, an unusual and potentially inappropriate request," the Times noted.
However, Sessions refused to change his decision.
Trump has repeatedly referred to special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russia's interference in the 2016 election as a "witch hunt."
"Despite the disgusting, illegal and unwarranted Witch Hunt, we have had the most successful first 17 month Administration in U.S. history - by far! Sorry to the Fake News Media and 'Haters,' but that's the way it is!" Trump tweeted last month.
