In a previous Episode, From Pulps To Superheroes, we briefly mentioned one of Phillip Wylie's works as an influence on Superman. Now let’s dig a bit deeper. Phillip Wylie had a significant contribution to comic book/strip pop culture through his pulp-era science fiction novels through his 3 books,1930 Gladiator, 1932 The Savage Gentleman, and 1933 When World's Collide. He influenced Doc Savage, Superman and Flash Gordon which then went on to influence the creation of many more characters. music - standard license
