Britain's first female bomb disposal expert has become the first woman to head Cambridge University’s private police force.

Lucy Lewis, 54, began her career detonating second world war bombs across the UK but is now leading one of the oldest private constabularies in the world.

Cambridge University Constabulary which dates back to 1825 - is a private police force where officers are able to hold powers of a regular constable within a five mile radius of Great St Mary’s in Cambridge.
