So much for not rubbing it in. When the Bella Vista soccer club won the Apertura final in Argentina's lower Southern League (Liga del Sur) last week, the club's fans had a strong reaction. In fact, they came out to the pitch to first celebrate, and then wail on the visiting, and losing club, Tiro Federal.
Brawling ensued, with the police slow to intervene, according to various media observers.
Minor injuries were suffered, according to reports.
The chaos followed a 3-2 victory by Bella Vista.
The Tiro Federal players were able to escape the scene through a hole in the fence surrounding the pitch.
Violence at soccer matches is a perennial problem in Argentina.
