Police are appealing for witnesses after a man allegedly hurled racial abuse at several members of the public in the middle of a packed high street in Swindon town centre. A 1 minute 18 second video posted on Facebook appears to show a man in Regent Street swearing and making offensive comments at around 4.45pm on Tuesday following an altercation between a man and a group of men. A 26-year-old man from Swindon was arrested today (Wednesday 31 August) on suspicion of racially aggravated provocation and remains in custody. The commotion causes many shoppers to stop in their tracks and watch the man before he is then chased off down a nearby street. The crowd had dispersed by the time police arrived at the scene.
