James Crombie marked his landmark day on Saturday with a tipple of his favourite brandy and a pie from the bakers who he has visited since the age of eight.
The former Royal Marine police officer said he had been "very lucky" to reach such an old age and has put it down to a "lot of luck".
James, of Dunfermline, Fife, lives with his grand-daughter Coreen, 49, but travels to the nearby Jean Mackie Centre to spend time during the day.
He enjoys having a cup of tea, playing a miniature game of carpet bowls and listening to the speaker reading out what is in the newspaper every day.
James has been going to his local bakers, Stephens, in Dunfermline, for over 90 years and claims they serve the "best pies around".
The loyal Dunfermline Athletic supporter recalled what had helped him to reach the age of 106 as the football club's oldest supporter.
He said: "I've been very lucky. I keep exercising by doing stretches with my arms and walking and I like a wee bit of brandy. Those are the secrets.
"Any time I seemed to be in a bit of trouble I got a lucky break.
