Scots worshippers' prayers were answered when their church emerged unscathed from a demolition 'sandwich' in Dundee. Saint Martin's Episcopal Church in Hilltown was evacuated along with 600 homes and 60 business premises as the city's two tallest landmarks, 25-storey Butterburn Court and Bucklemaker Court, were "blown down". Onlookers gasped as Butterburn, the second tower down, sheered off to the side as it collapsed. The £2.4m demolition was carried out by to Dundee company Safedem Ltd, who used over 10,000 detonators and delays to control the direction of collapse.
