40,000 tonnes of granite is blown up in Criagenlow Quarry, Aberdeenshire, to launch this year's Aberdeen Granite Festival. The explosion, in the Quarry near Dunecht, was a rare opportunity to witness the start of a process that has shaped the heritage of Aberdeen.
