There were torrential downpours in the West Midlands and northwest of England on May 27, with the Met Office saying a month’s worth of rain fell in just a few hours in some areas.
The West Midlands Fire Service said it had received more than 900 calls. The service also reported that a man in Walsall died when his vehicle was submerged.
