President Trump remarked on Melania Trump's health status Friday, days after she underwent a kidney procedure.
"She's doing great," Trump told reporters on the White House lawn as he prepared to depart for the U.S. Naval Academy graduation ceremony.
Trump then added, pointing to the White House residence, "she's looking at us, right there."
The first lady's communications office had issued a statement on May 14, providing details on the procedure.
"First Lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful and there were no complications," the statement noted. "Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere."
While there was some speculation about the unusual length of her hospital stay for such a procedure, CBS News reported that she "returned to the White House Saturday morning after a five-day stay in the hospital."
