Lava Flows Overnight Following Reunion Island Volcano Eruption

A drone flying above the Piton de la Fournaise – Peak of the Furnace – volcano on Reunion Island captured the active volcano spitting and spewing smoke and magma between May 17 and 18.

According to the Smithsonian Institute’s Global Volcanism Program, the volcano began erupting on April 27 and continued through May 15, with spattering and lava flow reported after that date. Credit: Christophe Georget via Storyful
