Israeli security forces cracked down on a pro-Palestinian protest organized by Israeli-Arabs in Haifa on Friday, May 18, arresting at least 21 people, according to Israeli media.
Protesters were rallying in solidarity with protesters in Gaza, where scores were reportedly killed by Israeli security forces during demonstrations on Monday.
Protesters in Haifa accused Israeli security forces of using excessive force. Haaretz reported that the protest took place with a permit and that organizers said some activists were warned not to participate.
