On Wednesday, Karnataka's governor invited BJP to form the next government and asked BS Yeddyurappa to be the new Chief Minister.
The decision came after the BJP contested an alliance between Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) which had 115 seats cumulatively, after the polls. BJP won 104 seats, short of the 112 mid-point.
The Siddaramaiah-led Congress and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda’s JD(S) met the Governor after the polls.
HD Kumaraswamy, JD(S) and Congress' Chief Ministerial candidate accused the BJP of trying to lure MLAs to boost its numbers. However, BJP rejected these charges.
