Heartbreaking footage of a pig grieving the loss of his companion gained attention after it was shared to Facebook on April 25.
The video was initially filmed by Belgium native Rachel Vos in October 2017, but started to gain traction after it was posted by Facebook group Hobbyvarkenvereniging, a charity run by pig owners in the Netherlands. It shows a pig called Spot mourning the death of his friend, Sientje.
Spot tenderly holds his snout on Sientje’s body, before giving an affectionate lick. According to the post, the pair had lived together for 13 years. Credit: Rachel Vos via Storyful
