Police in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, released surveillance footage of an arrest at the Mayfair Mall on May 11 which previously stirred outrage when cellphone video first emerged.

Officials are reviewing the incident and the use of force in the arrest, police said in a press release. Additionally, police are reviewing additional video from the scene, including surveillance footage released on Tuesday.

The cell phone footage shows officers wrestling with a 17-year-old boy and, at one point, punching him in the head. The footage released by police shows what happened before the altercation between the teen and officers.

Police said they were called to the mall for a report of five males causing a disturbance. One of the officers who responded found the teens and attempted to speak with them to determine what had happened. The teen, however, refused to stop and speak with the officer, police said. Additionally, the teen physically fought with the officer, who was attempting to “legally detain the suspect,” police said.

The teen was charged with disorderly conduct, battery and resisting an officer. The teen’s name was not released.

The Original Black Panthers of Milwaukee took issue with the officers’ use of force seen in the video, and the group’s leader, King Rick, told local media that view had not changed after seeing the additional footage. Credit: Wauwatosa Police Department via Storyful
