As Karnataka gets poll ready, Bengaluru witnessed unprecedented midnight drama on Tuesday when the flying squad of the Election Commission seized nearly 10,000-odd voter ID cards from a flat - allegedly belonging to a former BJP corporator Manjula Nanjamari - in Jalahalli which falls under the Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) assembly constituency. The trigger for the raids came from Jagadish ramachandra, son of GH Ramachandra who's contesting on a JD(S) ticket from RR Nagar. Karnataka's chief electoral officer Sanjiv Kumar, who visited the apartment later in the night, confirmed 9,746 valid ID cards have been seized. All these cards belong to RR Nagar constituency. Apart from two aluminium boxes filled with ID cards, there were two printers and six laptops. He also said that the cards were wrapped in small budles of paper with some phone numbers and names written on it. The cards belong to residents of some slums and that an FIR has been registered.
