A warehouse was burning on the 6500 block of Chillum Place in northwest Washington on Wednesday, May 9. The building at one point was at risk of collapsing, causing crews to suspend nearby Metro and CSX transit temporarily, according to reports.

DC Fire and EMS were posting updates to their official Twitter account, with the initial call coming around 3 pm. Roughly two hours later, officials reported transit service would resume, but at reduced speeds.

At roughly 5:30 pm, fire crews tweeted, the “deep seated fire continues to burn.” One firefighter suffered minor injuries. Credit: DC Fire and EMS via Storyful
