The U.S. Navy has said it has begun sorties against the Islamic State in Syria, continuing efforts to eradicate the militants.
The strike force led by aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman began the sorties last Thursday, after the carrier joined the Sixth Fleet last month.
Sorties are attacks made by forces coming out from a defensive position.
The operation comes almost a month after the U.S., U.K. and France launched airstrikes on Syrian chemical weapons installations in response to a suspected chemical attack.
