ISLAMABAD: Former premier Nawaz Sharif says he is squeaky clean and has emerged victorious in the people’s court.
Speaking to reporters at the accountability court in Islamabad, he lamented that this is his 62nd appearance before the court, but those who abrogated the constitution don’t have to appear even twice in court.
He said unilateral trial proceedings against him are being conducted. There’s nothing in the cases instituted against him, he claimed.
He said the people have handed down their verdict in his favour.
Sharif said other cases pending for many years are not even being heard, but he was facing court hearings daily.
Had there been anything incriminating in his case, it would have been decided within eight weeks, he said.
The former premier said the upcoming general elections shouldn’t be postponed and vowed not to let them delayed at any cost.
He said he was observing the mood and spirit of the nation, which calls for the sanctity of vote. The people have awakened now and know very well the respect of their vote, he added.
The former said they had suffered a lot over the past 70 years, but now enough is enough. He said they will have to work for betterment of the country.
He said the Chief Justice of Pakistan who takes suo motu notices over every matter should also take cognizance of PTI chief Imran Khan’s claims of army’s help for PML-N win in the 2013 elections.
He also called on the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the claims.
