Strong Winds Buffet High-Rise Cleaning Lift in Downtown Toronto

High-rise cleaning equipment in downtown Toronto was seen smashing against buildings on May 4 as a result of powerful winds that wreaked havoc in the Greater Toronto Area, leaving one dead and hundreds of thousands without power.

Severe thunderstorms and high winds swept across greater Toronto and southern Ontario on Friday. Video, taken by Louis Waters in downtown Toronto, shows lifts used by window cleaners swinging in the high winds and banging against high-rise buildings. Elsewhere in the city, furniture was seen flying across the sky.

At least one man was killed by a falling tree in Milton, the incident took place while two men were working to clear downed trees, CTV reported.
