Over $10 million worth of drug related to overdoses in Melbourne clubs and festivals was seized by Victoria Police from a junkyard in Craigieburn on April 28.
Police in white hazmat suits wheel out drums and containers of 1,4-Butanediol, or Bute, as seen in this video. The drug is often sold as liquid ecstasy, and is legal to import into Australia for industrial purposes under Commonwealth law, according to The Age.
The Melbourne-based newspaper quoted police as saying that a criminal syndicate planned to move the drug to rural Victoria, and distribute it across Shepparton, Cobram, Wangaratta and Wodonga.
