Washington, Beijing should resolve trade disputes through equal-footed consultations: China

Trade talks between the world's two biggest economies are about to kick off... as Trump's trade delegation arrived in Beijing today.
This follows months of growing trade tensions between China and the U.S... and it's hoped that the talks will shed some light on the prospects of containing a potential trade war.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday,.... China's foreign ministry said the U.S. approach to the talks will determine how productive they will be.

"As long as the U.S. is sincere about maintaining the long-term stability of China-U.S. economic and trade ties and comes to the negotiating table with mutual respect and win-win results in mind, then we believe that the bilateral consultation would be constructive."

The U.S. delegation, led by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, will meet with Chinese Vice Premier (Lew-Her) Liu He to talk about bilateral trade and economic issues.
However, negotiations are expected to be rocky... as a Chinese senior government official reportedly said,... China won't accept any preconditions from Washington for negotiations... while Trump administration officials said that they have already lowered their expectations for any breakthroughs from the trade talks.
