Tim was fast asleep when suddenly, he was woken up by a loud noise. When he looked out his curtain, he couldn’t believe what he was looking at. “Right there, 2 feet away, was a lynx kitten. He was sitting there watching his siblings race by,” explained Tim. But what was it?
Many may be unsure what a lynx is or have difficulty even identifying one because sightings are rare. The lynx is known to be one of the most endangered species of wild cat in the world, and the numbers are dwindling.
The lynxes that were spotted by Tim in Alaska were of the Canadian lynx variety and are extremely rare. These rare exotic felines can also be mistaken for their distant cousin, the bobcat.
Many wildlife conservation experts state that the Canadian Lynx are generally solitary animals, they usually hunt and travel alone, and are slightly more active at night than by day being that they are partially nocturnal creatures.
