Protesters gathered at Adelaide Port in South Australia on April 27 to call on the federal government to stop a controversial live transport ship from leaving for the Middle East, local reports said.

The Bader III ship began loading animals on Friday morning ahead of the scheduled departure on Saturday, news.com.au reported.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said the vessel had a terrible record for animal deaths and called on the government to stop it from leaving the port.
