Ivana Trump recently suggested President Trump should "enjoy his fortune" rather than run again in 2020.
Ivana Trump has suggested that her ex-husband, President Donald Trump, "play golf" and enjoy life instead of running for re-election in 2020.
In a recent interview with Page Six, she said about a potential second-term bid for office, "I don't think it's necessary...He has a good life and he has everything. Donald is going to be 74, 73 for the next [election] and maybe he should just go and play golf and enjoy his fortune."
"I think he probably [misses] a little bit of freedom, I don't think he probably knew how much is involved of being the president," she added.
Despite her remarks, President Trump continues to signal his intent to run in 2020--by filing paperwork soon after he was inaugurated and by announcing the hiring of a campaign manager less than two months ago.
Administration officials have also confirmed the move, with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying last June, "Of course, he's running for re-election."
Nevertheless, there have been skeptics including MSNBC's Joe Scarborough who doesn't think Trump will run again because of his ongoing legal problems.
Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee has also indicated that, despite the administration's declarations, Trump 2020 may not be a sure bet, saying on CNN, "Any president that's 18 months into their term, or 15 or 16 or 17, whatever it is, is likely to say that they're going to run for reelection. They do not want to be viewed as a lame duck. So I take it with a grain of salt, it's just another thing going across the internet."
