Rapper Kendrick Lamar has won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for music, becoming the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the prestigious prize.
The Pulitzer board said Monday that he was awarded for his Grammy-winning album "DAMN.," which it described as a "virtuosic song collection" that captures "the modern African American life."
Meanwhile, the New York Times and New Yorker were jointly awarded the Pulitzer Prize for public service for their reporting on sexual harassment allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Their stories served as a catalyst for the #MeToo movement.
