Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has a personal security and private flight budget that likely eclipses that of anyone but the highest-profile celebrities and government officials, CNN reported on Saturday. Since 2015, Zuckerberg has spent around $20 million on security and travel, with the company dropping $5.8 million in 2016 and nearly $9 million last year, according to public filings. CNN reports that the company says the spending is necessary to address “threats to his safety arising directly as a result of his position as our founder, Chairman, and CEO” and that “We require these security measures for the company’s benefit because of the importance of Mr. Zuckerberg to Facebook.”
