On Wednesday, President Donald Trump rattled the world by telling people to prepare for a US missile strike on Syria, despite threats of retaliation from Moscow. According to Business Insider, fears of a major conflict breaking out have largely abated. BI reports that despite what experts have classified as Russian bluster regarding a counter-attack if the US were to strike Syria, all out war remains unlikely. The Kremlin has said that the US and Russia are talking on a deconfliction hotline, which has the sole purpose of avoiding US military activity from impacting Russian forces, and vice versa. If a US strike on Syria doesn't kill any Russians, and simply targets those believed to participate in gas attacks on civilians, it could very well pass without much consequence.
