Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the BJP lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh who has been charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl, was detained by the CBI early morning and is now being interrogated in the case. The 7 member CBI team has grilled the MLA, probing him about his and his brothers' whereabouts at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, another CBI team has arrived in Unnao to probe into the case. The team will be taking statements from the rape survivor and her kin. The CBI will investigate three cases filed against Sengar with Makhi police station in Unnao, 50 kilometres from state capital Lucknow. The BJP MLA has been charged under the stringent POCSO Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code or IPC dealing with rape and kidnapping. Yesterday, the Allahabad High Court had come down heavily on the UP government, asking it whether it proposes to arrest Sengar.
