Kathua rape case J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti to bring about new death penalty law

Amid nationwide horror over the brutal gang-rape of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that the state will bring in a law that would make death penalty mandatory for those who rape minors. Saying that the brutal savagery of the crime had shamed humanity, she said that she stands committed to ensure justice and would also seek exemplary punishment for the culprits. Meanwhile a Senior Supreme Court Lawyer approached CJI demanding intervention in the kathua gangrape case...The lawyer asked CJI to give orders to Jammu Bar Association as the hearing in the case is being disrupted. CJI has asked the lawyer to file a written petition.
