President Moon Jae-in will attend a commemorative ceremony this morning for the 70th anniversary of the Jeju Massacre.
Also known as the Jeju April 3 incident, about ten percent of Jeju's population ― estimated at around 30,000 men, women and children were killed due to a government-backed anti-communist suppression campaign from 1948 and 1954.
This will be the first time a sitting President to attend such ceremony since the day was designated as a national commemorative day in 2014.
It was one of President Moon's 100 key election promises to establish the truth about the massacre.
Arirang TV will be covering the ceremony and the president's speech from around 10AM, Korea time.
