Apple to Stop Using Intel Processors and Use Mac Chips Instead According to Bloomberg, the tech giant could start using its own chips in its computers as soon as 2020. Apple has been using Intel Corp. processors since 2005 when it shifted from chips made by IBM and Motorola. The initiative, called Kalamata, is a small step in Apple's larger plan to make all of its products work better together. As a result of the news, Intel's stock dropped more than seven percent on Monday. Apple declined to comment on the story while Intel said, "We don’t comment on speculation about our customers.”
