Boxing legend Muhammad Ali died on June 3, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 74 when his body finally gave in to his many ailments.
The icon participated in 61 professional fights before his heart failed.
While many blamed Ali’s boxing career for his brain disease, Dr. Michael Hunter says in REELZ’s new docuseries, Autopsy: Muhammad Ali, that new evidence shows his fighting had nothing to do with his debilitating illness.
In the show teaser, the Autopsy doctor claims he discounted the possibility of Ali’s injury being caused by his boxing. Blood clots, however, could have very well been a consequence of his fighting.
“If these travel to the lungs, they can cause a pulmonary embolism, which can result in heart failure and sudden death,” admits Hunter.
