Top three reasons a child sees a pediatrician when sick: fever, cold & cough, ear infectons.\r
Diagnosis requires the otoscope. The correct use of an otoscope is shown. Tympanic membrane (ear drum) appearance may be normal transparent grey to bulging angry red.\r
Infected ears come from the back of the throat and nose up the eustacian tube. Serous otitis media is the presence of fluid behind the ear drum. Treatment options are discussed and the recommendation to give probiotics when antibiotics are used is made.\r
