Dubai: As the clock chimed 12, Burj Khalifa came alive with the most spectacular laser show that triggered a collective gasp from thousands gathered here! It also establish a new Guinness world record for the largest laser light and sound show on one single structure. The show uses powerful beams and LED lights, spread out over 109,000 square metres of the Burj Khalifa’s surface. The skyscraper will be transformed each night, lit up and turned into one of the world’s brightest spots, at 76.3 million lumens.

The 'Light Up 2018' spectacle will celebrate the UAE's achievements, features the colours of the UAE flag and symbols of nature, as well as pay tribute to the UAE’s founding father of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to mark the 'Year of Zayed' in 2018.

Organisers are advertising that a 'never-before spectacle' is set for the Burj Khalifa as the city rings in 2018.

There have been fireworks displays on the Burj Khalifa in previous years to mark the turn of the New Year. This year there was ... Emaar Properties, the developer of the iconic building, announced on its website that the fireworks display would be replaced by the laser and sound show titled 'Light Up 2018.

Hundreds and thousands of people thronged Downtown Dubai to witness yet another Guinness World Record being made. This was the first time the iconic Burj Khalifa did not welcome the new year with fireworks, but with a laser show appropriately named as Light Up 2018.

Emaar’s light show, Light Up 2018, left over a million visitors astounded on New Year’s Eve. The show, which was on the iconic Burj Khalifa, set a world record for the largest light and sound show on a single building. If you missed the show on New Year’s Eve, don’t worry, as it will continue until the end of March.
