The Fire Department of New York confirmed on March 23 that one of its firefighters was killed during a fire in Manhattan overnight.
The firefighter was named as 37-year-old Michael R. Davidson, a 15-year veteran of the FDNY who was assigned to Engine Company 69. Davidson was injured during a fire in the Sugar Hill area, before being transported to Harlem Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the FDNY said, adding that he is survived by his wife, Eileen, and four children.
The New York Post reported that two other firefighters remained in a serious condition with burns, though their wounds were not thought to be life-threatening.
