Chandrababu Naidu, a man who was the technocrat king of India, the Cyberabad inspiring tech-hub nerve centre creating reformist figure. There was a time when he seemed unbeatable in his home state of Andhra. But he was beating, humiliatingly so by a congressman named YSR. Then YSR tragically died, his son became the face of the congress. Only to leave the congress bitterly when the party decided to bow to KCR's movement and split the state of Andhra. That was followed by investigations of fraud and bribery that left Jagan going in and out of jail. KCR won Telangana, Naidu got a win a reduced Andhra. That Naidu joins the NDA, enjoys power at state and centre for 4 years. On the eve of new polls, he's failed to deliver all that he could or wanted, including the dream new capital at Amravati. Jagan spots an opportunity to challenge his incumbency. So Naidu promptly and dramatically dumps the NDA with just months to go blaming Modi, not himself, for dreams dashed. Upstaged, Jagan then moves a trust vote in parliament against the govt. Feeling his thunder stolen, Naidu moves a parallel trust vote in parliament. Both have no chance of winning since we all know the BJP has a single party majority. Every political opportunist uses this as a pretext jumps into the well. They blame Modi for failing on Vikaas. Their solution is to stall India's ultimate house of Vikas, the Lok Sabha. In politics then, nothing is what the politicians claim it to be. Nothing is related to anything except one core language. The language of power. For which every trick in the book is now being applied. We would hope that our netas would govern and build a new India, instead you get more cacophony and chaos. Important bills, including covering the political funding of parliament are now being passed without a debate because the priorities of tu tu mein mein. Political grandstanding is fine, but isn't it done better outside parliament? Isn't it time we had no trust in netagiri? We pose those questions tonight.
